Volcan de Pacaya
I caught the last bus of the day headed out to San Francisco de Sales. Want to hike up a live volcano? Hell, yeah. It was a fairly steep climb that took about 3 hours. The members of our group were from all over the world. We hiked through fertile farmland, past the geothermal electric plant, and up 2,000 ft into a world of hot lava and radio towers. Pacaya erupted in May, 2010, and the cone was blown open.
Different Directions
Guatemala is a beautiful mixture of cultures, Mayan and Spanish, modern and traditional. They share the same streets and sidewalks, yet I wonder how much their lives differ.
